Disney's Epcot
July 29th 2008 01:38
The first theme park we went to was Epcot which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. As its name implies, Epcot explores various advancements and innovations in technology and presents it in a very fun, engaging way. World Showcase is also situated at Epcot allowing you to travel around the globe and experience different cultures without hopping on a plane.
RIDES WE EXPERIENCED:
Spaceship Earth
How would you like to ride on a time machine and learn how communication evolved? This is one of my fave rides at Epcot and one which the kids will find entertaining as well. There is also a surprise at the end of the voyage, so make sure you give the camera your best smile.
Ellen's Energy Adventure
Ellen DeGeneres is the host of this particular ride which helps you understand "energy" in a funny, comprehensible manner. A very tame ride that will enthrall the whole family, but watch out for those dinos!
Mission: SPACE
By far this one is my favorite among the rides at Epcot. You can choose between the original version of the ride or a milder version if you're riding with the kids. Mission: SPACE is a motion simulator ride that allows you to experience what astronauts might feel or encounter inside a spacecraft heading on a mission to Mars. I absolutely loved this ride, but if you're uncomfortable in tight spaces, you might want to avoid this one.
The Seas with Nemo and Friends
A cute ride based on the well-loved Disney-Pixar hit move "Finding Nemo." Suitable for young children and the young at heart, of course.
Living with the Land
If you want to take a break from all those dizzying rides and want to learn more about innovations in gardening as well as see an array of plants, vegetables and fishes, Living with the Land is a must-see.
Journey Into Imagination with Figment
Join playful Figment as you explore each of your five senses in a ride that will leave you gasping for air (wink, wink).
Honey I Shrunk the Audience
Ever wondered what if feels like to be the size of an ant? This hilarious and thrilling 3D adventure show based on the movie will make you feel just that. I really had fun on this one but my daughter got a little scared.
Epcot Character Spot
Get your cameras and autograph notebooks ready as you say hello to Mickey and his friends.
Innoventions
This part of Epcot allows children to explore their imagination using hands-on activities.
Summer Concert Series
We had the chance to rest our weary feet as we listened to Bjorn Again perform the hits of Abba.
Impressions de France and O Canada!
Travel to different parts of the globe, learn more about their culture and experience the beautiful sights and sounds of the country of your choice. We managed to see France and Canada in under an hour. Other places to explore are Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, U.S.A., Japan, Morocco and the U.K.
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth
To end your day at Epcot, be sure to watch this colorful fireworks and laser display that is synchronized to music.
RIDES/ATTRACTIONS WE MISSED:
For one reason or another, we missed the following:
Turtle Talk with Crush
