Take the Mensa Workout

February 27th 2009 16:55
Mensa Workout is a free quiz from Mensa consisting of 30 questions that should be answered in 30 minutes. This is not an IQ Test, just a fun quiz that will test your general knowledge. I scored 24/30 but I think most of it is due to my knack for guessing Try it out and see how you fare.

Note: If you can't see the video, just click on the title of this blog post and hopefully, you'll be able to access the video.

Resources for Your Young Reader

February 21st 2009 02:27
Starfall is an interactive website that helps children learn to read through phonics. This website really helped my daughter become a strong reader. Another great website for your young reader is Seussville University which is based on the very popular Seuss books. Studydog is another excellent website that offers a downloadable program that will help your children read. The phonics lessons are presented in a game setting; kids actually have fun while learning. They used to offer the program for free but I believe it has changed. Nevertheless, do check out their website to learn more about what it offers as well as pricing.

Some other resources I recommend:

Watch This

February 18th 2009 15:09
Each child is different and as parents we must learn how to nurture each child according to their personalities. For example, being overly critical to a shy child will further cause that child to withdraw inward. On the other hand, showering too much undeserved praise on a child also has negative effects. I found this touching movie that is especially meant for parents and educators. The movie is about honoring a child's individuality and finding the right balance to further nurture that child. Please, watch this.

My Latest Craze

February 5th 2009 04:37
For months my friends have been inviting me to join the social network Facebook. I finally gave in last week and signed up; I was curious to know what the fuss is all about. I must admit though, Facebook is more user-friendly than the other social networks I've tried. I love the so called "wall" and the other apps, especially Pet Society which has become my latest craze.

Pet Society let's you create your own virtual pet; play with it, feed it, buy it clothes and furniture and so much more. You can also play with friends who are online; it's really a cute and fun game.
