From IE to Firefox

March 24th 2009 08:31
For years now I've been a loyal user of Internet Explorer, but due to work-related issues, I had to switch to Mozilla Firefox. I must say though, that after a couple of days of using Firefox I'm really impressed. I especially like the available add-ons, particularly one that is called Morning Coffee. Morning Coffee lets you enter the urls of sites you usually visit and arrange it per day. So let's say there are certain sites you visit on Tuesdays, you just enter it in your Morning Coffee. Then when you open your Firefox browser and click the coffee mug icon, all your must-visit sites open in tabs. Try it out, as well as the other available add-ons for Firefox. To download Mozilla Firefox click here. To download the Morning Coffee add-on click here.

Alex the Parrot

March 20th 2009 09:00
This is a 2-year old clip which was aired on Good Morning America about an amazing parrot named Alex. As we all know, parrots can mimic words and sounds. I had a parrot when I was young, she was white and the only thing she learned to say was her name - Sharon. But Alex was different, it appears he can actually "think." Sadly, Alex died in 2007. I know I can't embed this video here, so here's the link to the clip.

Get Your Gift

March 13th 2009 06:06
Another Friday, another random post. I know it's late for Valentine's gifts but I think this one is cute. You can create a virtual gift basket on Giftfantasia.com. You can choose the gift wrap and presents to put in your basket, then you can copy the code and embed it on your blog or Web site. Visitors can then collect the items they like.

Go ahead, pick one Click on the title link of this post if you can't see the gift basket.

What's Your Learning Style?

March 9th 2009 10:42
My worse subject in college was Statistics; I don't know why, there's something about numbers and graphs that completely confuses me. Add to that the fact that my professor's voice could only be heard by those sitting in the first two rows. Also, she had this annoying habit of blocking whatever she is writing on the board with her body. Needless to say I flunked Statistics and had to retake it during the summer.

Fortunately, I had a different professor during the summer; someone whose teaching style made my worse subject surprisingly enjoyable for me. By the end of the class, I had earned a B.

Free and Legal Music Downloads

March 6th 2009 16:09
If you're looking for music that you can listen and download legally for free, jamendo might just be the site you are looking for. If you're a musician, you can gain a following and earn money by publishing your music on the site. jamendo also has a nifty widget that you can add on your blog or website. The one below is from the album Between Two Worlds which features acoustic piano music. This album is just a sampling of the selections you will find at jamendo. Visit the Web site here.

I really like listening to this album; it's very relaxing, a perfect end to a tiring day.
