Disney's Animal Kingdom
August 13th 2008 06:07
Animal Kingdom was the last theme park we went to during our one week vacation in Orlando. Apparently, this is the largest among the Disney parks; it focuses entirely on animals and what we can do to protect them.
RIDES/ATTRACTIONS WE EXPERIENCED:
It's Tough to be a Bug
Love, love, love this 3D show! Ever wondered what it feels like to be a bug? Well, this gives you a glimpse into their challenging existence. I especially liked the last part - very surprising.
Tree of Life
This is the symbol of Animal Kingdom. On its trunk you will find over 300 hand-carved images of animals. It's certainly a sight to behold.
Kilimanjaro Safaris
I've always dreamed of going on a safari and this ride actually makes you feel like you're in Africa surrounded by free-roaming animals. Deers, hippos, giraffes and lions are among the animals you will see on this ride.
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail
Walk down this trail and you will be surprised at the various animals you'll meet along the way. There are gorillas and hippos, to name a few.
Wildlife Express Train
This is a relaxing train ride that takes you around Rafiki's Planet Watch.
Habitat Habit
Another adventure trail where you will find endangered animals.
Conservation Station
See what Disney is doing to help protect animals and learn more about animal conservation.
Flights of Wonder
A show featuring colorful and very smart birds, including the American Bald Eagle, hawks and even vultures. My favorite part of the show was when the trainer asked one of the birds to get a dollar bill from the hand of a viewer.
Maharajah Jungle Trek
Yet another adventure trail where you will meet magnificent creatures such as tigers, Komodo dragons and bats.
Primeval Whirl
Although there are fewer rides on Animal Kingdom as compared to other Disney theme parks, one ride you shouldn't miss is Primeval Whirl. This is a spinning roller coaster that has sudden drops and spins. Delightful.
Triceratops Spin
Fly and spin while on board a dinosaur. A mild ride that is perfect for the younger crowd.
Festival of the Lion King
A stage performance that has music, dance and acrobatics featuring lovable characters from the movie and other colorful cast members. This show is really impressive and touching at the same time.
Finding Nemo - The Musical
Nemo, Dori and Marlin come to life on stage in this production of Finding Nemo. This show effectively combines acrobatics and puppetry to tell the story. Truly worth watching.
Greeting Trails
Another photo op with beloved characters like Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods.
RIDES/ATTRACTIONS WE MISSED:
Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends
Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade
Affection Section
The Boneyard
RIDES/ATTRACTIONS WE MISSED INTENTIONALLY
Kali River Rapids
Expedition Everest
Dinosaur
