Do you believe there is a parallel universe?

I was watching tv today and they aired the movie "The Family Man" featuring Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni. In this movie Nicholas Cage (Jack) is rich and successful but there is something lacking in his life, although he didn't know it at first. Enter a "being" that enabled him to experience a glimpse of what might have been if he stayed and married his college sweetheart.
Great film and it made me think about something quite similar which happened to me and my husband.
Three years ago the company where my husband was working filed for bankcruptcy. It was a complete surprise and one we were unprepared for. You see I chose to be a stay at home mom when I had my daughter so my husband was the breadwinner. For months we struggled with our finances as my husband tried to look for a job. I also considered going back to work and have applied to various companies. Then my husband received an offer from an employer, only thing was he will be assigned to Dubai for 2 years.
Although I didn't want him to go I also didn't want him to miss this opportunity so we decided he'll take the job. We talked, made plans, packed his bags and all. On the day he was to leave, with his airplane ticket clutched in his hand, he decided he didn't want to go. Yes, that news really "thrilled" his employer, lol.
A day later we received a phonecall from another employer, this time he was offerred a job in the US and the company is sponsoring our whole family. I often wondered what would've happened if my husband went on that plane for Dubai.....
It made me think of parallel universes. Scientists are still studying if there is such a thing. The theory is that there are many parallel universes where in each one there is a version of 'you" experiencing different circumstances based on your decisions. Like for example you are driving and you choose to turn left and continue your journey on that road. In a parallel universe "you" go right and continue your journey from there. Kinda like "Sliding Doors" featuring Gwyneth Paltrow.
Sorry for rambling, but do you think there is a parallel universe? If you were given the chance to change one thing in your life, what would it be?

I wouldn't really change anything I have done but I would have wanted to try more than one thing and
if there was a parallel universe I could at least try several things I don't have time in this lifetime.

At the moment the alternate reality I would like to see is what my life would be like if I hadn't gone to uni and instead had gone straight into the workforce. Would I have a great job or would I still be a checkout chick? It's interesting to ponder.

Every possibility would have it's own universe. There would a universe where the only difference is that I didn't leave this comment on your blog and at the other end of the spectrum there would be a universe where we all evolved with starfish and still lived in the sea.
