Gifted Parenting - Parenting a Gifted Child

Chronicling my journey as the mother of a gifted child.

I had the most awful dream

December 4th 2006 18:42
It's 4am, I just woke up from a very bad dream and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to go back to sleep now. Hence the blogging.

In my dream my husband, daughter and I were staying in a hotel/resort. We were about to go to sleep when we heard a knock on the door. We were informed that there were some minor problems in the hotel and they needed to check it. We were asked to vacate our room for a while, we went out and there was a small crowd of people in their jammies all walking out of the hotel. Then my husband remembered that he forgot something in the room so we went back. We noticed that our daughter didn't follow us so we started searching for her but we couldn't find her.

My dream kept shifting to different places, in a park, in a mall, in our home, we kept searching for her but couldn't find her.

I was starting to panic, then my brother appeared and told me to watch the news....the broadcaster announced that they just found a body of a little girl but haven't identified who it was yet. That's when i started to go hysterical and I woke up.

I know it's just a bad dream but it really scared me, i can't stop crying.

Any dream interpreters out there? Care to share any bad dreams you've had?

I had a bad one once when I dreamed I was in a bank and my youngest who was then about 3, ran out of the glass doors of the bank, across the road and down the street and no matter what I did I couldn't find her and was scared she'd be hit by a car.

I just hate it when they seem like they're really happening and you don't realise you're asleep until you wake up from it. When I woke up, I was having major heart palpitations as you could well understand.

Thanks Melissa, I looked it up on a dream dictionary and it says that dreaming of losing a child signifies losing hope about a certain situation or project.

Thanks for keeping me company and here's hoping we have no more bad dreams
