I Must Be Doing Something Right
December 14th 2006 02:17
This morning my husband and I attended our daughter's Christmas program at school. This year the theme was "What Christmas Means to Us" and each class from Kindergarten and First Grade presented a song and dance number.
The first one to perform were those in the gifted program, they played "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and "Jingle Bells" on the flutophone. My daughter was sitting in front and they were wearing red vests and a Santa's hat. They did really well.
After two other performances from different classes, my daughter's class was next. this time they performed a Jamaican version of "Jingle Bells". They were wearing red vests and a Santa's hat again but this time they also had bells on their wrists. Their performance earned a thunderous applause from the audience.
After the show I realized how far my daughter has come. Two years ago I can't even make her go on stage and recite a short poem for their school program. Now she's performing on stage and performing well at that.
I must be doing something right, I can't wipe the smile off my face. I feel this is the best Christmas present ever - my daughter is blossoming into a self-confident child.
Is your child shy or outgoing?

My first son (middle child), well there's nothing middle child about him. He is the life of the party.
My second son (lucky last) is only 13 months old so we'll have to wait and see how he turns out.
It a wonderful thing to see your child growing and developing into a wonderful little person. Sometimes i stop and ask myself "did I really create this little person?"
Love & stuff
