My Greatest Joy
September 26th 2006 14:31
Okay I'll admit, I'm a very strict mom. My daughter has to follow a certain schedule especially on a school night. Our rule is, no TV and going out on weekdays. But on weekends she can do whatever she likes, within good reason, of course. She also has her own set of chores, like cleaning up her toys after she plays and setting the table. If she does something unacceptable she gets sent to a corner for five minutes.
But before you think I'm a tyrant let me assure you that even if I'm strict I do know how to have fun with my child. We do play... a lot. And we have so much fun together. My daughter is also free to express her thoughts and feelings without fear. In fact, she's very vocal with us and can be really stubborn at times.
Tough love is what they call it, although I seriously doubt I'm coming off as tough to her since she can be bossy at times.
Nevertheless, one of the things I really stress is that she study hard. If there's anything we can give her it's the privilege of a good education.
And I feel it's finally paying off...
She is my greatest joy...our gem, far more priceless than anything money can buy.
I hope and pray that God will continue to bless her and guide her so that she'll grow up to be an amazing lady gifted with intellect, a good heart and strong faith. I know she's already blessed with beauty, hehehe.
