My Husband Gave Me Orange Roses
February 7th 2007 00:35
Yep, he did for Valentine's Day when we were first going out. I remember the flowers were so beautiful, he gave me three long-stemmed roses arranged in a pretty little bow. The color baffled me though i asked him what it meant and his reply was that he wanted to give me red roses but the flower shop ran out of it.
.
Well it turns out that orange roses signifies desire, a running joke between us, each claiming we married each other because of our "hot bodies" [insert laughter here]. It became a running joke because each year we stayed married we seemed to have gained weight, which we are trying to shed off now. So my discovery of the meaning of orange roses just affirms my suspicions
Anyway since Valentine's Day is coming and you might get roses from someone special in your life, here are what various colors signifies as far as roses are concerned.
White roses - Humility, reverence
Peach - Gratiitude or sympathy
Light pink - Admiration or sympathy
Pink - Appreciation, gratitude
Yellow - Friendship, joy
Orange or coral - Desire
Purple - Love at first sight
Red - Love

It's interesting to get the meaning of the different coloured roses, though I'm a bit worried now. On our anniversary each year, hubby gives me one white rose for each year we've been married and the rest are red. Uh oh, that means we're becoming less loving and have more humility and reverence with each passing year??
