Random Acts of Rudeness
November 20th 2006 06:57
Kids nowadays can be rude and mean, I had a dose of that this afternoon while I was picking up my daughter from school. Two older kids (probably third graders) were walking in front of us, then they started to run and as they looked over their shoulder they shouted "Hurry up losers!".
My daughter was very upset, especially because according to her "They shouldn't speak to older people like that." I felt I'm probably doing something right if I was able to teach my child how to be respectful. This is something we as parents should teach our children - how to be polite. The world would be a better place if there are more kids who know the value of self-respect and respecting others.
We need more people like Larry Stewart, also dubbed as Secret Santa. He's anonymously given away $1.3 million since 1979. Stewart has experienced hardships in his life and in fact is suffering from cancer of the esophagus. But this hasn't stopped him to continue his random acts of kindness.
Yes we need more people like Larry Stewart. More on him here.

Incidentally I was wondering if others would be interested in this idea of mine. We all know Christmas is a few weeks away and I was thinking maybe we can do "Random Acts of Kindness" here on Orble. The idea is to pick an Orble blog, you will then leave a comment on that blog, of course relating to the latest post. Then the blog owner will respond by commenting on your blog and then choosing another blog to leave a comment on. And so on, does that make sense? The rule is that, you can pick a blog that hasn't been left a random "Acts of Kindness" comment yet. I don't know exactly how to go about that, maybe we can have a separate post for those blogs who've already been commented on. If anybody else has a better idea or if you're interested, just let me know.
