I Want A Nintendo DS
January 4th 2008 03:03
My daughter had been asking for a Nintendo DS since the day she first saw the ad on the Cartoon Network. Hubby and I finally gave in and bought her one as a Christmas present. We chose the Nintendo DS Lite in pink, it comes with an AC adapter, a battery and 2 Stylus pens. We also bought her the Bee Movie Game which is rated E (for Everyone). I must say for such a small gaming unit the Nintendo DS does pack a lot of fun and I like that it's portable so you can take it along especially on long trips. I also like the PictoChat which enables you to exchange messages with other Nintendo DS users within range.
As for the Bee Movie Game, it's great but proved to be too difficult for our 7-year old. So we got her the Disney Princess Magical Jewels Game (also rated E) which she was able to play and complete in a few days.
For parents who are thinking of buying their kids a Nintendo DS, I think it's a good purchase but make sure you choose the games carefully. Pick those that are age-appropriate and have educational value if possible. Also monitor your child's Nintendo DS use especially when they are on PictoChat. And as with any leisure activity, moderation is the key. It's good to have devices such as the Nintendo DS as a source of entertainment but this shouldn't replace quality family time and outdoor activities.

For Christmas this year I got a new Apple Ipod Shuffle so I gave my old MP3 player to my daughter.
That's her little gadget for this year. She's already gone through a whole stack of batteries listening to it.

That's really cool that you got an iPod, I've wanted one of those for awhile now but hubby got me a coffee table instead, lol. Are you planning on making Podcasts?

However, I did get 4 presents. One each day leading up to my birthday. My first present was a vacuum cleaner. Luckily they got better.
