The Waterparks of Disney
August 10th 2008 01:36
We visited the waterparks at Walt Disney World on the fifth and seventh day of our vacation in Orlando.
Blizzard Beach has the following attractions:
Summit Plummet
Slush Gusher
Downhill Double Dipper
Teamboat Springs
Toboggan Racers
Snow Stormers
Run-off Rapids
Ski Patrol Training Camp
Tike's Peak
Chairlift
Melt-Away Bay
Cross Country Creek
Winter Summerland
Since we had little kids in tow and none of us were extremely strong swimmers, we opted to spend time at kid-friendly attractions such as Ski Patrol Training Camp where you can walk on broken icebergs as you cross the pool, Tike's Peak which has not-so-scary slides, Melt Away Bay that has waterfalls and low waves and Cross Country Creek which is a lazy pool that takes you around the whole park.
Typhoon Lagoon has the following attractions:
Crush n' Gusher
Humunga Kowabunga
Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool
Keelhaul Falls
Mayday Falls
Gangplank Falls
Shark Reef
Storm Slides
Bay Slide
Ketchakiddee Creek
Castaway Creek
Mountain Trail
I liked Typhoon Lagoon better because this is where Surf Pool is. Surf Pool has higher waves that can literally knock you off your feet. Everytime the signal goes off to announce the coming of another wave, everyone in the pool squealed - it's amusing. We really loved riding the waves.
We also went to Bay Slides that has 4 body slides especially made for kids, Ketchakiddee Creek which is a water/play area for young children and Castaway Creek which is a continously flowing creek that takes you around the whole 2,000 ft. expanse of the park. We would've loved to try Shark Reef to snorkel but you have to pay separately to try it.
