Gifted Parenting - Parenting a Gifted Child

Chronicling my journey as the mother of a gifted child.

A Personal Message From Santa

December 17th 2009 12:25
This is so cute! Send your child a special message from Santa through PNP (Personal North Pole). This website lets you customize the message by adding personal info about your child. Don't worry, the questions are more general in nature and not specific. You can also upload a photo of your child to further personalize the message. All of these info will be incorporated into a video message from Santa. The video will then be immediately accessible on the website and it will also be sent to your email. I made one for my daughter and I'm waiting 'til Christmas Eve to show it to her, I'm pretty sure she'll be thrilled.

Go make one for your child on the PNP website.

I've always wanted to learn how to play chess but it just seems so complicated. For those of you who want to become good chess players or if you have a child who's showing potential of becoming a chess master someday, visit ChessKids.Com. This website offers free online courses on the game of chess.

Singing My Way Back to Blogging

October 29th 2009 13:32
I've been away for a few weeks to attend to some personal matters, but now I'm back. Anybody miss me

Let me go back to blogging by sharing with you an awesome website called SingSnap. If you like singing, you will absolutely love SingSnap. On the website you will find hundreds of songs from various artists covering a variety of genres. All the songs are in minus-one or karaoke version, and you can sing to it, record your performance and choose to share it or keep it private. You can also capture your performance on your webcam. Of course you need to sign-up to gain access and you need to be a paid subscriber in order to access all its features. However, the free version isn't so bad. The only problem I had is that most of the time my recordings becomes out of sync.

Preparing for Natural Disasters

October 1st 2009 20:13
Although even the latest gadgets and equipment cannot accurately predict when, where or how destructive a natural disaster will be, we can still try our best to prepare for such calamities. I've listed several natural disasters and linked them to helpful websites on disaster preparedness. Stay safe!

Assess Your Health Symptoms Online

July 23rd 2009 12:55
A great tool you can use online to assess any health symptoms you may be having is WebMD's Symptom Checker. This helpful tool allows you to choose the parts of your body that may be causing you discomfort and then select specific symptoms you are experiencing. The tool then gives you a list of possible health problems or risks associated with your symptoms. I put this tool to the test and it did pull-out two health conditions that I have.

Of course, this is just a starting point and you do need to consult your doctor for further tests and advice. You can access the Symptom Checker here.
